Large Fall Wreath for Front Door with Wood Beads
Do you like it? See below for how to create this easy fall wreath. One thing, it’s a little time consuming, but worth it!

Get a wire frame and wire ( I used 24 gauge), and wire cutters- if needed. (Like this Wire wreath frame and wire) On the wire I bought, it came with a handy lil’ cutting device. Also, you’ll need….
You’ll need a LOT of grass/wheat looking stuff. Depending on the size of your wreath and how full you want it, I used about 12 bunches this size. We grow these clumps of grasses in our yard, but every fall you cut them back or they’ll double in size the next year- eventually taking over your yard and home and eating everything else in it’s path. Yes, a little scary. haha So, you can see, I’m going to use very little of the actual grass, just the tidbits at the top! If you buy wheat/grass stuff at the store, the stalks will be thicker, but lay them against your frame to see how much you think you’ll need. (Here's some similar)
So, painstakingly, pick through your grass and gather your stalks together until you get a good size bunch. You’re going to wire the bunch together, wrapping the wire around it several times tightly. Then WITHOUT cutting the wire, wrap the bunch to the frame. Wrap the wire around the frame three times or so, pretty tight. Don’t cut the wire. You won’t cut the wire until the last bunch is on and the work is DONE. Trust me. This saves time and you’re gonna want to save time when you realize how many bunches you have to do. But it’s like having a baby, it’s worth it when it’s over.
First picture shows the wiring, nothing fancy! The second picture is showing that you want to measure your bunches against each other, so they’re uniform in size. Unless you DON’T want them uniform, you do you boo! Third picture shows more wiring. Then after about two hours, you’ll be one-third-ish done! Congratulations, run to the bathroom, get some food, there’s more to go and you need your energy to really push through!
Half-way done and it’s midnight, I’m cold, hungry, and wanting to cry…. but already loving it. (See? Like a having a baby!)
I finally went to bed, but the next day- I FINISHED it!! I was so happy! This is what it looked like. If you don’t want to add ribbon, tuck another bunch or two in there to fill in the full circle. Twist your wire in there tight and cut it. I decided to put ribbon on it. (My door is an 8 1/2 foot door, so I need something to make the scale work with my door.)
So, I wanted a flannel ribbon in plaid. I had some years ago but had used it up. I went to four different places and couldn’t fine any! So, I bought 1/4 yard of fabric and cut it into three strips, then frayed the edges. Here’s a similar ribbon. I tied two of them together and draped it over the “open” area. I thought the pom poms were cutie patootie (like these) and the wood beads just made the whole thing work. (Here and here are some similar.) I just draped everything over the wreath. Then used the last piece of flannel “ribbon” and tied it, letting the excess hang down. The last picture is the back of the wreath, messy, but I feel good about it. lol
All tied up and ready for the door!
And she’s up!! Yay!! My blood, sweat and tears were worth it.
Here’s my simple fall front porch with my wreath hanging on the door.
Here’s me telling my friend about my baby, I mean my Fall Wreath.
Happy Fall Y’all!!
