Holiday Tablescapes!

Ahhhh, I just love Christmas! I just looked at a Christmas in July blog post, so I’m dreaming of Christmas right now. On Christmas Eve I love to decorate my table all fancy and make (hopefully) delicious food for family and friends. I love the whole gathering thing, bringing loved ones together, eating, laughing, it’s just the best of times for me. I think food and family is my Love Language haha. Actually my hubby cooks amazing food, I can’t lie or take the credit. Scroll down for some Christmas Tablescape ideas and a yummy Christmas Eve menu at the end. Every table I set, I name it, I know, it’s cheesy, but the one above is “Sparkly White Christmas”. It is starring my favorite white reindeer, he’ll make lots of appearances in this post, I can’t help it, he’s so regal! (This one is similar and you get two! This one cute, but a little smaller, this one is to die for!) The center piece has a silver piece of fabric under everything and then some sparkly fake snow sprinkled all over it, the kind you buy for a Christmas Village (This is what we use), there’s a lot, you can use it for years.) The candles make it glitter! So pretty! My daughter says glitter is my favorite color, she might be right. Below are a couple more angles of Sparkly White Christmas.

Sparkly White Christmas

Haha! I think I nailed the name!

The one above is “Fresh Flowers and Candles Christmas”. Is there anything more classic on a table than fresh flowers and candles? I love the combination. I sometimes like to put a piece of candy (like this) or small gift at each plate, tied with the napkin. I think it adds a little something something to the place setting. The tablecloth is some polyester faux velvet (like this) I bought a few years back (maybe 8?). I’ve used it A LOT and it washes up great! Because I’m usually seating between 10 and 12, I bought 5 yards of it. It drapes to the floor on each end of the table, it looks elegant. Even though it barely covers the table on the sides. I’m ok with this, because then my guests can move around easier. Below are a couple more pictures of this table. (These are my chargers, but I like these better.)

Cozy Christmas table setting with fur and candles

Cozy Christmas table setting with fur and candles

This one (above) I called “Cozy Christmas” because of the faux fur piece under the center and the place setting “gifts”. It’s also starring the white reindeer, shocker! I have real and battery candles on this table and I don’t even care if it’s tacky! Haha My favorite thing about this is the little fur lined mitten Christmas ornaments (sort of like this) on each plate- you can’t tell, but my hubby got some gourmet chocolates that we filled each ornament mitten with. I got the mitten ornaments from Pier One on an after Christmas sale, so it was a win win!

Magical Christmas Table

See my little g-baby being all mesmerized? Who am I kidding, he’s probably eyeing the chocolates. (I know I’M mesmerized by chocolate.)

This one is “Black and Red Plaid Christmas”. I know, it’s very unoriginal. I was running late and forgot about a name until my guests came and I was asked what it was called and I panicked! (Now, it must be noted that my guests really don’t care about the name, they just ask because they know I name my tables and they love me, I know, it’s silly!). But did you notice I got a new Reindeer? (Here's something similar.) So crazy, right? I had these old square plates that I got at the dollar store many years ago, and I thought they were perfect. Down the middle of the table is a scarf I got at JoAnnes on December 23rd, so it was like 70% off! Score! Maybe you noticed, but I never have a matching set of dishes. I don’t have enough of one type of place settings, so I usually have to mix in different ones. But I don’t even care if it’s not considered “correct”, I like the variety! My favorite thing about this table is the ribbon (like this) on the napkins/plates that gives off that Vintage Sweater vibe.

Here’s what we usually make for Christmas Eve dinner-

Appetizers: Rumaki; Shrimp with Cocktail Sauce; Cheese Ball and Crackers. I think it’s so important to have something for your guests to munch on while waiting for dinner to be served. And don’t tell my hubby that I’m admitting this, but I’m usually running a little late- shhhh!

Main Dish: Prime Rib with Au jus and Bernaise sauce; sometimes Crab Legs (if Costco has them, they’re the best!)

Sides: Green Salad- a must for color on the plate; Twice Baked Potatoes with all the toppings; Ribbon Jello- also very colorful; Home made rolls; Heavenly Vegetables- Heavenly because they’re made with a lot of “love” ie: fattening ingredients, (I don’t even care, it’s Christmas)!

Drink: The hubby makes a pretty Christmas Punch that is- two cans of Cran/Raspberry concentrate and two bottles of Sprite (2 liter bottles). It’s super simple, but very pretty and very good! Mix it and pour it over pebbled ice in a large punch bowl (I get my pebbled ice at the local grocery store in the butcher area, they’ll usually bag some up for you).

Dessert: Usually Bavarian Cream layered with brown sugar, pecans and raspberries and pomegranates or Chocolate Bundt Cake or something else totally decadent! If my guests don’t have a tummy ache after the meal, then I didn’t do my job! Haha

There you go! Merry Christmas!

Hugs to you and yours,

Patrice
